Placement Papers - Sierra Atlantic

Hi Friends

I am Anirban Mukherjee from AOT-CSE-2008 pass out (W.B). I got my dream to my hand on 20th late night at abt 01.45 p.m...Sierra Atlantic.

There was 5 rounds-

1> Aptitude test -> 50 questns, 60 mnts
Very simple but boring twisting probs... if u go through R.S.Agarwal, it will be enough. Some probs like age, trn, speed, day prob (it was sun day on 23th, 3rd mon day of next month,wht is th day?), traffic signal (3 light glows at 12... whn they will glow togethr next?) like tht...
.... I did here 25-30 correctly.....

Here one thng, jst be cool... starting frm 1st, do wht u can do in 1st go attempt.. dont pay more than 1 mnt for a question... u will see, u will complete the total paper going through at abt 45-50 mnts, u will see u hv done all most 25 qstns right.... then for the remaining time, try those remainings, or try - - -, u know wht to do.........[:)].. it is also neccessary some time... ya, it\'s the real truth I gt after 15 campus interview.

2> Technical (writn) Test -> 50 qstns, 30 mnts
Simple and twisting qstns, some are lengthy too... u hv to keep patience fr them, lengthy ones are easier generally... qstns frm java, C,C++, DBMS, Data Structure etc..
.... I did here 35-40 correctly.....
U hv to hv really sound on the fanda here.. do one thng. try to go through Exploring C by Kanitkar, it wll give u a vivid fanda on C and the base for othrs. (Test ur C is not required). around 1000 ppl sited for it, only 30-40 ppl cleard aftr 2 rounds of written test (they announced the result after 2 written test combindly)

3> G.D ->10 mnt, 8-10 ppl
My topic was--- "The upper limt of money for human life"
some othr topic they gave--- "Gandhi giri", "brain drain", "terrorism","Women in India today".. like that.

Here I have some tips, do a khata fr GD.. do write about all the common topics here... be near to dailly updates, news, datas..... practice well fr a clr voice and smth speaking power (I am also frm Bengali Medium. so dnt worry.. jst take ur time... dnt try to speak too fast... slowly exprss ur views).........
Now in th GD room, dnt panic.. be cool.. no matter whether u start or nt,, they really does nt pay any attention on it... let 2-3 ppl spk 1st (nt more thn tht), in the mean time u will also feel comfrtble with the environment.... thn be concentrate on ur subject.. no intro needed... jst say ur views and datas abt the givn topic, try to give sm examples if u can... spk 1-1.5 mnts. thn pass the turn... for the remainning time, keep a leading role (let othrs spk).... dont go for direct crossing with any one.... if u dont agree wth any one... jst tell, "i cleared my voice, my views only my frnd"... like tht... now .. in th last mnt,.. do the conclusion.... if u can do tht, GD will not a panic to u any longer.

4> Essay writing
they gv us 20 mnt, bt they took the paper in the intrview time.. so nt to worry... same topic fr all... "The movie u hv recently seen".. I wrt abt "TARA RAM PAM", by josh Raj prductions.

5> INTERVIEW
The most interesting but the most pressure creating chapter (for me, mainly a stress intrview it was)... but it was the 5th time I was infront of intrview... truely, I was very much sure abt my failure (see lower)...... So I was very much cool... it was mainly a H.R intrview, bt fr me only, they asked me sm Technical also.. jst be cool... hv a gentle smile always on ur face... look strght to the eyes of th intrviewer... dont say anythng extra untill u are asked (specially fr HR intrviews) and anothr thing.. be in totally formal dress (dont even frgt abt ur ties also. Sierra really pay attention to ur looking).. total 2 panels were thr... ur intrview will be one to one. here is sm of qstns--

I- sir, apart frm al the dtails wrtn in my C.V, I am Anirban Mukherjee, quite a hard working, intelligent, punchual, energetic persn with lots of learing ebility... sir, I am a very friendly person who loves to take help frm othrs and help thm in their need.

I-sir, honestly, I did nt know abt thiss campuss drive yestrday also, it was my frnds, who infrmd me abt the drive, told me abt th qstn types etc... so as they r always being with me, I can say sir, I am obviously a frndly prsn.

I- I was really looking fr u.(dont say anythng extra until u are asked)

I-Honestly sir, I was obsrving, Sravant Sir (th 2nd panel) is taking very small time.. 10-15 mnts. bt u are taking long time... 45-60 mnts.. I thought, if I gt a large time, it is bettr for express myslf, a chance of bettr interaction......

At about 1.30-1.45p.m,they announcd th result......frm 19 ppl(aftr Gd)......they selected 10......THANK GOD.......i was one of thm!! Now i am a part of prestigious SIERRA!!!

At last, I can say, Sierra was my 15th campus drive before that I cleared several apties, out in the last round but did not loose hope.....sm of thm--
Infosys (out in H.R)
Tata elxi(cleard 2 rounds of Technical, out in H.R)
Persistence(cleard 2 rounds of Technical, out in H.R)
Birla soft (clrd 1st rnd intrview, out in 2nd round of intrview)

and then Sierra..... I got it... wht evr may cm to ur life, dnt loose hope, and OBVIOUSLY keep faith on God... wht he does, wht happens. happens fr good only.
