The first Section was Technical which consisted of Several Sub-Sections like soil mechanics, concrete technology, transportation engineering,, Building Materials, and miscellaneous (Containing Environment Engineering and Surveying Questions). There were 40 questions in total and the time allotted was 25 minutes. It was not an online test; we were given an envelope containing question paper.

The Second Section was English consisting of 40 questions and time allotted was 20 minutes. This Section basically dealt with questions on Choosing the correct Spelling (5-6 questions), finding synonyms and antonyms, Rearranging jumbled words, completing the sentence with appropriate words, finding errors and answering questions from paragraphs.

For Technical Section, I think going through the basics of the above-mentioned subsections will be helpful. Some of the questions asked were like what Gypsum is used for, Bitumen grade having lowest viscosity is, Compaction results in, Flash point test, one numerical to find the quantity of sand required, Permanent hardness of water can be removed by, What is benchmark?, Uniformly spaced contour indicates? and so on. Most of the questions were theoretical, only two numericals were asked.

From the written round, 9 students were shortlisted out of 30 for GD which was a non-eliminating round but it carries weightage in the overall selection process. We all 9 were given two topics and given 5 minutes time to discuss among ourselves to choose any one topic for the discussion. The topic that we did not choose was should India be further divided into smaller states. GD went for about 15 minutes and each of us were evaluated based on their evaluation aspects. Actually, we were called for the interview on the basis of the order of rank we got in GD.

Try to be the first one to start; if not first then second. Support your point with examples, try to use some quotations or if possible statistics; that actually give a good impression on your side. Both HR and Technical interview was held simultaneously. The technical interview Section mainly dealt with questions from my project, Internship, RCC, Construction activities going in campus and so on. In HR, the questions were like Tell me about yourself, why you want to join SPCL and so on.

Do not get nervous, Have a good command on your project and internship and explain them effectively.
