Instrumentation Engineering.
Round 1:
Aptitude Test 60 questions (30 technical + 30 General aptitude), 90 minutes. The level of questions asked in this round were not that much tough. Questions related with basic sensors, control systems, circuit theory, measurements and electrical engineering were asked. 40 students were shortlisted out of 80.
Round 2:
GD, groups of 8 people. 20 people were shortlisted out of 40.
Round 3:
Technical Interview, panel consist of 2 technical experts. This round was quite tough. Panel asks you about each and every point that you have mentioned in your Resume. As I was having 1 year of experience in Thermax Ltd, they asked me.
- Introduce yourself.
- What is a difference in pre-commissioning and commissioning?
- What did you do while you were in Thermax in pre-commissioning and commissioning?
- What is dry test? Wet test?
- How to check loop wiring?
- How cabling is to be done? How to determine the exact cable in 8-core cable or 16-core cable while loop checking?
- What is PID?
- Why it is required? How system get unstable?
- Integral windup? How controller come to know whether system is in Idle mode or in Active mode?
- What is difference between Controller's Auto mode and Manual mode?
- What is OSI layer module?
- Working of HART protocol.
- What is difference between RS 232 and RS 485?
- What is SCADA? HMI? Difference.
- Ladder programming? Timing diagram for ON & OFF time?
- What is difference between transducer and Transmitter? Is transmitter is transducer?
- What are 2, 3, 4 wire transmitter connections?
- Some basic questions about temperature sensors and their working.
- Some HR type questions like.
- How you solve any problem in your life? Correlate it with any problem that you have faced in your life.
- How you update your technical knowledge? New technology? New inventions?
8 were shortlisted out of 20 for HR round and finally 4 got placed out of 8 after HR round.
