Hi Friends
Hi friends this is G.Venugopal Rao pursuing M.C.A. in Siddharth institute of engineering and technology near Puttur. This was the campus interview held at Sri Venkateswara College of engineering, Chittoor on 6th &7th FEBRUARY 2008. I would like to share my experience of campus placement where I selected into "SATYAM COMPUTERS".
The pattern for Satyam is
1) Written Test.
2) Essay Writing.
3) Technical/HR interview.
Written test consists of 15 questions of which it covers aptitude, verbal & non-verbal reasoning, and English.
The questions we got in the written test is
1) Data sufficiency: The problem on probability like i.e. how many pink balls are there in the box.
i) The box consists of 5 red balls and 4 black balls.
ii) 20 out of 40 balls in the box are pink.
a) i alone is sufficient to answer the question, no need of choice ii.
b) ii alone is sufficient to answer the question, no need of choice i.
c) Both i & ii is sufficient to answer the question.
d) Both i & ii is not sufficient to answer the question.
Ans: Clearly from statement ii we can get the answer so b) is the answer.
2) Number series 22, ?, 27, 190, 32, 260
a) 34, b)120 c)360 d) 40 e) none of these .ans: b
Exp: alternatively numbers are increasing i.e. 22+5=27, 27+5=32, likewise 190+70=260. So we can get 120+70=190.
3) Given a small paragraph, for that we have to select the conclusion from the given options. I can\'t remember that paragraph but it is about some professionals\' smoke in their closed cabins, but senators didn\'t have the closed cabins but if they have to smoke they must have the cabin. But company give the permission to smoke like that paragraph continues.....
Ans: I can\'t remember the conclusions but exact ans would be the choice c.

5) Odd man out.
6) Two pencil boxes there would be 3 black pencils and 4red pencils in one box, similarly in another box also there would be 4 black pencils and 6 red pencils. We have to find out the probability of getting a black pencil from these boxes.
Ans: 61/140 Note: the numbers may not be correct but answer is correct.
7) Problem on Time and work i.e. A & B can do a work in some days. A alone can do a work in some days, then in how many days B alone can do the work. In this model only we got the question.
8) Problem on Time and distance.
9) Simple paragraph is given here also from this paragraph we have to conclude the answer.
10) Problem based on Compound Interest.
11) Puzzle 2,4,6,8,12,14,16,18 are the house no\'s and p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w are the houses. Based on the conditions given we have to solve it.
Ans: C.
12) This is also Puzzle 4 persons went to a CD shop and bought some thing according to their interests. Based on the condition we have to solve this puzzle.
13) Blood Relation: A tells to B, C is my father\'s nephew. But D is cousin to A but not brother there is no brothers to D. Then how is C related to D.
14) Cuboids problem based on lateral surface area.
15) Sides are in the ratio 2:3:4. Perimeter of the triangle is 54 cms. Then what is the smallest side. A) 12 b) 13 c) 14 d) 32 e) none of these.
Ans: a.
Essay
I cleared the written test and results came out on the evening of 6th Feb, 2008. After that they give a resume along with that we have to write an Essay. The topics are About Telangana, what you would do if u got 100 crores, and my topic - IS I.T industry helping to develop INDIA.
I wrote positively about I.T. industry, look this is not an elimination round.
(Write the Essay without any spelling mistakes, strike outs and write clearly without any grammatical mistakes. In HR interview they refer the Essay, and they can asks about that also.)
Tech/ HR interview
Next day that means on 7th Feb. I have a Tech/ HR interview
I am in the panel-1; I am very cool on that day with out having a little bit of tense in my mind or in my behavior. I just looking around the college and watching the persons sitting beside me and listening what they are talking.
When I was called for Interview I went near the cabin gently push the door and asked "may I come in sir"
Hr: Are u venugopal?
I: I said yes and he showed me the chair to sit.
I gently sit into the chair before that I said good morning.
He looked at me and asked good morning/ afternoon with a smile on his face.
I looked into my watch and said good afternoon with a smile on my face.
(Actually what happened is when I was sitting outside it was 11:30 A.M. but I went into the cabin at 12:30 P.M.)
(Look when Ur filling the resume given by the company, please fill it clearly and give only the true things about u)
He looked into resume and read the hobbies which I wrote chat with friends.
Hr: One of Ur hobbies is chat with friends, what type of chat?
I said live chat with my friends
Hr: usually what u chat with Ur Friends?
I said about movies and politics.
Hr: He asked "at present what is going on in A.P. politics".
I said rumors is coming that chiru is going to establish a party to next elections.
Nobody knows it is correct r not but political parties are trying to get him into their parties so that they want to get use of his fame in politics.
Hr: whether chiru coming into politics is good or bad?
I said in my view coming into politics is not good to him. (Actually there are reasons I would like to explain but HR stopped me and asked another ques)
Hr: did u have the right to vote?
I said yes.
Hr: then for which party u r going to vote.
I asked b/w which parties\' sir.
Hr: he told b/w TDP and Congress.
I said TDP and explain why I would like to vote for TDP. Actually under his rule only I.T industry developed in A.P. so that many of unemployed youth got jobs, so that life style is changed, economy of A.P is increased. (I praised I.T industry positively)
Hr: but he did not show interest on farmers.
I said that is the only backdrop under his rule and I said no C.M. ruled more than 7 years in the world sir.
Hr: if chiru establishes a party then what would u do?
I said I would like to vote for chiru.
Hr: before that u said u vote for TDP, now for chiru what\'s this?
I gave my reasons as chiru is fresher to politics. Unless we support him how he can show his ability, skills, and potential he have. So that I would like to give him a chance to prove in politics also.
Hr: Do u know how swing A.C. works?
I said I don\'t know sir.
Hr: Explain how fluorescent bulb produces light?
I said for fluorescent bulb both end consists of filaments and the bulb is filled with a neon gas.
When the switch is on filaments get heated and electrons is produced and chemical reaction takes place b/w neon gas and e- so that light illuminates from the bulb.
Hr: Can u touch the candescent bulb?
I said no sir it is too hot to touch.
Hr: which subject did u feel comfortable in Ur academic subjects?
I said java. (But he asked a question from c++)
Hr: what is the use of friend function?
I said when any function is declared as private in base class, to access that function in derived class we have to use the keyword friend before that function.
(That was the only tech ques asked to me)
Hr: Then he again went to hobbies list and asked who Ur favourite volley ball player is?
I said there is no favourite player to me. Just I would like to watch the game and I play that game from school days and participated at zonal level and winners in that game. Actually that game is a team game, unless all the persons in the team do well we can\'t win the game. And its all depends on the Team work.
Hr: Then who is in cricket?
I said Saurov Ganguly.
Hr: Did u think he is playing well according to the situations.
I said yes and gave the reasons for that.
Hr: Why did u like him?
I said I like his batting style and when he comes forward leaving the crease hitting sixes over the fence he looks like a tiger( at that time hr smiled) but I continue to talk about the Ganguly captaincy and told whatever I knows about him until he stops me by posing a question
Hr: what would u like to be Ur position in the company?
I said Team Manager.
Hr: then in how many years UR going to be a Team Manager?
I said no fresher can be a Team Manager, first I have to know the responsibility, duties, and nature of the work that I have to do, for that I must be in a team. If I have the potential, ability then my team manager can recommend me to be a team manager less than 2 years.
Hr: Do u think film actors coming into politics good or bad?
I said why not sir already late N.T.R. & M.G.R. are also film actors and coming into politics they become C.M.s in their respective states and they did some good things for their states.
That\'s my entire HR interview which took around 25 min. I am very confident while saying answer and had eye contact with HR through out the interview.
Actually HR is co-operative through out the interview that feels me comfortable. I waited for the results more than 7 hours; finally I was in the selected list.
candidates appeared: 1400
cleared written test: 228
On 7th Feb 140 members called for the interview, out of this 52 members short listed.
By god\'s grace now I become a "Satyamite"......
Thanks for my parents, friends who backed me all the time to succeed in this interview. I would like to thank three of my friends who encourage me to attend the interview and to succeed.
I am one of the happiest souls at that moment as me and my friends get short-listed.
I think this can be helpful for u to crack the satyam and to become "Satyamite".
