Infosys Interview Experience - Acharya Institute of Technology, Bangalore. 29th & 30th September 2014

Hello everyone, I'm Vinay Kumar from Bangalore. I would like to share my interview experience.

Infosys had come for the campus recruitment to our college.

The process was of two days. And before a week for the process they will send a mail and url to fill up the application form. After filling this form we ll get a confirmation mail. Later we need to login to that same url and take printout of that application. We need to take that form for the recruitment process.

There was two rounds in the process.

1. Online Test on First day.
2. Technical/HR Interview on the second day.

On First day, we had been informed to be in the campus by 7.45 a.m. We had been there by 7.40. They came by 9 a.m. They gave a presentation about the company. That presentation was very useful during HR round. Later by 11 a.m they took us to take online test.

This test had three sections with sectional time limit and sectional cutoff as well. So you need to be good at all the sections.

1. Reasoning -15 questions, 25min.
2. Quantitative Aptitude -10 questions, 25min.
3. Verbal ability -40 questions, 45min.

Over all the test was not that difficult. Few questions were very easy and few were tough. Thanks to IndiaBix Which helped me a lot. I was preparing from IndiaBix.

In reasoning section there was a table which was not fully filled and followed by 5 questions. You need to fill that table and answer the questions. Rest of the questions were syllogism (not direct one) , data interpretation, deductive reasoning.

In quant section also we had a table followed by 5 questions. Rest of the questions were from permutation and combination, profit and loss, ratio and proportion.

Verbal was quite Easy. It had sentence correction, order of the sentence to complete the paragraph and two passages with 5 questions each in it.

After this online test we were informed to go home. And by 5 p.m we got results and luckily I got selected.

Total number of students attended First Round was 509 and total number got selected was 206.

If you clear first round then 70-80% confirmed that your placed.

Second day, we had been informed to come by 8.30am. I was there by that time. They started the process by 9.30 am. If your lucky you'll be called soon for the process. I was not lucky I guess, my turn came at 4.45 pm. There were 9 HRs in our campus. And the process will also depend on your luck. If your lucky you'll get only HR round. If your not that lucky but little luck favors on your side, you'll get Technical and HR in a single round. If you are not at all lucky then you'll be called for HR round and technical round separately. I was not that lucky. I got Technical and HR in a single round. My interview was about 45min approx. But if you get HR round, it'll be of 15 to 20min.

They called my name at 4.45 pm. I went inside. He had glanced my resume for 2 min and then called me. He told me to sit.

Interviewer: Well vinay, tell me about yourself.

Me: I started with my career objective then my educational background. When I stepped into my project, he stopped me.

You should be well prepared about your project. This is the one which plays an important role. If you have not done any project then you better be prepared about the workshops/internships you attended.

I was very confident about my project. He asked me about 10 to 15 questions about my project.

As I was from IT background their were much technical questions, like difference between C and C++, Java and C++, SQL, three schema architecture, two tier architecture, questions on java. And most importantly they asked about IT trends for almost everyone. So choose a topic in which your familiar and talk about It. They asked me to write a c program to swap two numbers. For some of them they asked program to find out prime number and factorial of a number. After that he asked some HR questions like, why infosys? What are your strengths. ? What are the leadership qualities you need have. ? Then he asked whether I have any questions. I asked him. After that he told me to leave.

If your not from IT background then you don't need worry about these questions. They ll ask you to write a simple c program. And questions from your project.

Overall the process was not the difficult. Keep this in mind, if you don't know the answer then you don't tell directly that you don't know. Tell them that, I'll search answer for this and learn at the earliest. They should get a feeling that your interested in that company and your interested to learn new things. That's all they expect from you. Be confident and answer the questions.

Finally we got our results by 7.15 pm. 166 were selected out of 206. And I was one among those 166.

All the best. ! Be confident.
