Posted By : Rahul Rating : +72, -0
Hi all, I attended Infosys campus drive held in our college, BPPIMT.

On 23rd, aptitude test was conducted.

3 sections [65 questions, 95 min].

Each section had questions divided into 5 per page. [you can go back to previous question & change your answer].

A) Logical and Arithmetic Reasoning [data sufficiency- 5 ques, data interpretation - 5ques, logical deduction- 5 ques, total 15 question & time allotted 25 min].

B) Mathematical Critical Reasoning [time speed distance, coding-decoding, probability, ratio-proportion, puzzles, series, etc. Total 10 question & time allotted 35 min].

C) Verbal ability [Error spotting, fill in the blanks, 2 reading comprehensions (10 ques) , Passage & conclusion, total 40 questions, 35 min]. [for this section, it is recommended that 2 RCs should be attempted at the end, but try to keep sufficient time in hand].

From our college, 375 were eligible for apti test, 166 were selected for PI which was held next day, 24th sept.

On 24th, PIs were started from 8:30 am. My name was called around 4 pm.

Well I was nervous, but feeling confident as this was my second interview, I had attended a CTS drive 3 days before. So garnered confidence in myself that I can face the interviewer with ease. But again I should say I was pretty nervous.

I entered the room, went closer to the interviewer and seeing me, he requested me to sit down.  (The interviewer was male, around mid 40s).

Me: Thank you sir. [I sat down].
Me: Good Afternoon sir.

Interviewer: Good Afternoon.
Interviewer: So, Rahul. Tell me something about yourself.
Me: [said about my personality and hobbies, interests].

Interviewer: What is your course & stream ?
Me: Bachelor of technology in Electronics & communication Engineering. [Tip: Always say the full form].

Interviewer: Ok, so you are from electronics, but I'm from IT. Please can you tell me the process in which a phone call is made between a landline & a mobile ?

Me: Sir, there were no subject related to that in my course up till my current semester. So I am unable to answer that.

Interviewer: Its ok. No problem.

Interviewer: Do you know C, Java?
Me: Yes sir. I know the basics.

Interviewer: OK. Write a program to reverse a string. [He gave me a A4 paper to write the code].
Me: Sir, can I write the code in java ?

Interviewer: Yes you can.
Me: [It was easy for me. Wrote it. ].

Interviewer: Explain your logic in the code.
Me: Explained.

Interviewer: Okay.

Interviewer: Which versions of JDK you have worked on ?
Me: JDK 7 & JDK 8.

Interviewer: Tell me whether a program written with JDK 8 will work properly on a system having JDK 7 ?
Me: Told the answer. [intervwer asked me whether I ws sure or not, just checking my level of confidence, I firmly said yes. ].

Interviewer: Is Java platform independent ?
Me: Yes.

Interviewer: If a program is coded on Linux system, will it run on Windows system ?
Me: Yes sir.

Interviewer: Please elaborate.
Me: Explained the whole logic behind it. [intervwer seemed impressed].

Interviewer: Okay rahul. Please tell me why you want to work in IT field although you are from non-IT ?

Me: [told something which just came to my mind at that moment, said something like - creating a relation between electronics & software and that they go hand in hand, its better to have knowledge of both giving an advantage, etc].

Interviewer: Okay. Good. Now, please tell me in brief about your project you completed. [he was refering to a project I did on Java].

Me: [I said about the whole project in about 2-3 mins].

Interviewer: Will you be able to work in domains outside your interest ?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Do you have any questions?
Me: How was my performance in this interview ?

Interviewer: See rahul, I am unable to tell you right now how you performed. But if you have any other questions I will surely answer.
Me: Okay sir.

Me: Sir, how is the training process conducted in infosys for freshers ?

Interviewer: Answered my question in the most elaborative manner.
Me: Thank you sir.

Interviewer: Thank you rahul you may leave now. You may take a toffee. [There was plate of toffees on the table].
Me: [I took one chlormint and said thank you. ] Sir may I leave now?

Interviewer: yeah sure.

The whole interview took 10 mins.

I never took active part in organizing or heading a committee in cultural or technical fest of my college or anything like that. I just have good technical knowledge and lucky to possess fair English speaking skill.

But how fluent you speak English doesn't matter at all, unless you keep saying something sensible.

The interviewer mainly checks how confidently & smartly you answer.

If you don't know an answer or sure about it, admit it, say that you are unable to answer.

After my interview I wasn't sure whether I would be selected.

The results were announced 2 hours later.

132 of 166 were selected.

I was one of them.
