Infosys Interview Experience - Kolkata, April 5, 2014
I am Suvam from RCCIIT, Kolkata. I have attended Infosys pool campus drive on March 28th 2014 at B. P. Poddar, Kolkata. On 28th, the first round occurred, i.e. Online Test.
The online test consists of two sections,
1. Logical reasoning.
2. Verbal ability.
The first section was easy. You have 40 minutes for 30 questions. If you practice Logical Reasoning from R.S. Agarwal and IndiaBix that's enough. It consists of-.
Data sufficiency, syllogisms, data interpretation etc.
The second section was not very tough. But you have 30 minutes for 40 questions and there were two big passages. So time management is very important in this section.
Also there were cause and effect, spotting errors, sentence completion etc. Practice them from IndiaBix.
Next day the result was declared. 88 students cleared online test from our college. Once you clear online test, your probability of getting job will be more than 75%.
My interview was on 1st April, at Techno India Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Interview round was very easy. Just prepare everything you have mentioned in your CV. They will only ask from your CV. Mine was 70% HR and 30% technical. But they might ask you a lot from technical part. So, be prepared for that.
Me: May I come in, sir?
HR: Yea, sure.
ME: Good Morning sir.
HR: Good Morning. Please take your seat.
Me: Thank you sir.
HR: So tell me about yourself.
HR: Are you nervous?
ME: Yes sir, a little bit. Actually this is my first Interview.
HR: (smiling) don't be nervous. I am not going to hurt you. Relax.
HR: So you have interest in short-filmmaking. How many short films you have made?
Then another 3-4 questions from short-film making. I answered them all.
HR: What are your favourite programming languages?
Me: C, Java.
HR: And favourite subjects?
Me: DBMS, Data Structure.
HR: Ok Suvam, what is C?
Me: Sir, it is a computer programming language. It is a procedural language.
HR: What is procedural language?
HR: What are the differences b/w procedural language and Object Oriented language?
HR: Tell me the algorithm for swapping two numbers.
Me: Can I write it down Sir?
HR: Of course.
He didn't mention whether to use third variable or not. So I did it without using third variable. (They normally ask very easy questions, so try to solve that by the most efficient way you know).
HR: Ok Suvam, that's good. Now tell me what is data abstraction?
HR: What do you mean by abstract class?
HR: Ok now tell me something about your final year project.
HR: So you are developing your project in Android. So what is Android?
HR: Who are the competitors of Android?
Me: Sir I brought my project with me. (In a tab). Can I show it to you?
HR: Yea, yea, sure.
HR: So Suvam is it your tab?
Me: No sir, I don't have any android device.
HR: So where do you run your project?
Me: Sir, in Android emulator.
HR: Fine, so you are going to buy you first android Phone after getting your first salary, right? (Smiling).
Me: (Smiling) , yes sir probably.
Then another 2-3 questions from my project.
HR: Ok, are you willing to relocate?
ME: Yes, sir.
HR: Ok Suvam, so do you have any question about Infosys?
Me: Yes sir, if I get selected how long will be my training period?
HR: It depends. Mostly b/w 3-6 months. And your training place will be Mysore.
Me: Ok, thanks for the information sir.
HR: Do you have any other question?
Me: No sir.
HR: Ok Suvam. You may leave now. It's nice to meet you.
Next day result was declared. Out of 88 students 55 got selected. And I was one of them. : ).
In interview keep yourself cool. Be confident and be yourself. Don't lie to them. They are experienced enough to catch that. Best of Luck. : ).
