Infosys Interview Questions - Anantapur, September 21, 2011.

Posted By : Bhanu Prakash.B Rating : +183, -5
Hi all, Infosys visited our college (JNTUA) on sep 21, 2011. I have given every possible detail i can legally(think so...) give.. (I cant promise u this is going to b the permanent pattern of infosys.. but it sure does help..)

Cut-off: 68% in aggregate (around 330 were eligible)

First of all we had a pre-placement talk. They gave presentations about Infosys. Be concentrated regarding the details such as areas of service of the company etc. They will be  helpful during the HR interview. Then we were told to go to the examination hall.

EXAM:(75+ mins)
Before starting the exam we were given registration/application forms for Infosys to fill them. Be careful and don't be haste and fill it up. Instructors will spoon feed you through the process. It takes nearly 45 mins to complete the form. Then we were given answer sheet(OMR should b answered using pen, better take a pencil also.. god knows what they will allow) and a rough sheet attached to it. no more will be given/allowed. Then the question paper is given. First they gave reasoning QP.

REASONING:(30questions 40 mins)

4) SMALL PUZZLE(4 children, money distributed among them... who has more? less?)
5) ONE Analytical question(mapping...given in the form of paragraph,we have to solve for answers)
6) Syllogisms

Its very easy.. Unless you are blind or something, you should qualify this section. But don't be over confident. If the paper is tough and you don't have enough time.. quickly write down the questions and options in the rough sheet. Because after 40 mins they will take some time to collect the reasoning QP's from you and distribute Verbal QP's. You can work out in that gap. Choose a good position in the exam hall to have most benefit..;-) (Of-course, its easy to malpractice. But i think its not of use for reasoning QP)

After reasoning we were given verbal QP.

VERBAL:(questions 35mins)

1)Sentence Correction(8Q)(among 4 sentences the correct one shud be detected)
2)Underlined a part of sentence and asked to insert correct phrase in it from d given 4 options(8Q)
3)Fill in the blanks(8Q)(prepositions etc)
4)Theme detection(6Q)(5 line paragraphs)
5)2 RC s(one big,one small)-10Q (one is very easy.. read and answer type. Another is difficult.. read, understand, check para, check options, confirm.. type. Better you go for this type of RC at the last.)

When compared to Reasoning QP this was a bit difficult. Most of the students who got disqualified were so because of this QP. So, b careful with verbal paper. The questions are easy but very lengthy.. It scared the hell out of us.. So, practice verbal very much so that u will not find it difficult to read the biiiiig questions.

Results were announced after nearly one hour. We were permitted to have lunch or whatever we can... We assembled after one hour. 136/330 qualified in the written exam. I was one of them. Immediately we were told to go to the HR interviews.

Here also, first we were given a form to fill up. This was about semester marks and it didn't take long. We had to give these forms to a person along with the xerox copies of X,XII,B.Tech mark-lists, a signed resume. After this a person called out my name and i had to wait in front of the HR room. I was not even prepared for the basic question "tell about yourself".. When i was struggling to decide whether to prepare for that question or not.. I was asked to go inside...

ME: Good afternoon sir..(smile)
INTERVIEWER: Good afternoon.. sit down..(smiled.. that gave me a bit confidence.. ah.. at least he can smile..)
M: (sat down)(forgot to say thank u.. shit!! never mind.. if u r late then leave it..;-))
I: (seeing my resume) What events did u participate in ur school? (in resume i wrote won several awards at school level)
M:essay writings, elocution, painting, sports..(of-course everything is true.. don't try and lie.. they will get u somewhere.. painting was my hobby)
I: nothing more?
M:(what the hell? i have said almost every event name that a student can participate.. thought of saying dancing.. but feared that he may ask to perform...) nothing special sir.. also i was the class leader then.. so it was my duty to educate everybody regarding the events. so, i had my part in every event in our clas.. (Hoff.. diverted the topic.. i didn't know whether it was a convincing answer..)
I: aha.. whats your duty?(smile.. thought he got me)
M:actually, the events were conducted by pvt people.. we had scholarships........ blah blah.. so i had to encourage...
I: what were the problems from the students?
M: not interested... etc....
I: what did u do then?
M:said something...
I: Got any sisters?
I:whats the difference between CS & IT?
M: (thought a while.. i didn't know) I don't know sir (smile)
I: how can u b not knowing? being from CS?
M:(smiling) That's y i didn't know sir.. I am from CS i know CS.. I don't know about IT.. But i think both must b almost same...
I:(smile) If both r same y 2? there should b 1 right?
M: (smiling) ya... that's y i said i don't know sir..
I:questions about tech fest in our college and my role in its organizing.. problems faced.. ways solved...
M:answered all confidently...
I: any questions?
M: nothing sir... but i just want to know what r the qualities u look for in a candidate at this stage..
I: didn't answer.. said indirect answers.. such as u should b knowing... that's y u r here. etc..
(smiled) thank you....
M: It was nice meeting you sir...(smiling, confidently shook hands with him )
I: the pleasure is mine..(smiling)

I thought the interview was all about communication skill... no c c++ java.. no unanswerable questions... no domination... quite cool... he had to see me speaking confidently with out the bias of fear r something else... so he kept the interview cool... of-course, i have tried my best for that...:-) You will be almost selected if u pass the written exam... provided with acceptable communication levels and confidence.. no need of Hollywood level speed or verbal skills... just convey your matter in a cool and simple way.. Take some care to protect your character by answering with contradiction or domination.... if done so.. u have got yourself a job at Infosys...:-)

mostly they will give the results after the completion of the process. maximum next day.. But in our college due to external reasons results were announced on 29th..

104/136 got selected.. I'm one of them..;-)
Thank god, (for producing the 3 persons who inspired me) and Prathibha Vikas(the school which i hated for forcing me to speak in English with their ridiculous fines...).

All the best guys!
