Placement Papers - Infosys

Hey all,

I would like to share my placement session experience with you all which happened on 8th september 2011.

We were told to be on our seats(as per sitting arrangement) by 8:00 a.m.

The teachers arrived by 8:15 a.m and we were given a form to fill in.

Make sure you fill it correctly. It consisted of information regarding your 10th,12th marks and respective percentage\'s and college CGPA etc. Very basic information was asked but don\'t fill in a hurry as they don\'t provide an extra form.

Then,after a prolonged wait, infosys people arrived at about 11:45 a.m.

Be prepared to wait for a while,though the wait proves to be beneficial as it fades away nervousness,which was at its peak in the beginning.

Then at about 11:55 a.m out test began.

The first test was of REASONING.

QUESTIONS:30
TIME:40 MINUTES.
LEVEL:VERY VERY EASY.

It consisted 5 question each on following topics.
1)PICTURE PUZZLES:-(5 questions)

We were given a series of 5 pictures,moving with a definate pattern,and we were supposed to find the odd one out(which does not follow the pattern).
ATTEMPT THEM AT LAST AS SOME OF THEM WERE CONFUSING.

2)SIMPLE STATEMENT PROBLEM:-(5 questions)
      In this a statement was given,5 friends eat "LADDU" at a shop,number of laddu eaten by some friends in combination were given.We had to find number of laddu\'s eaten by each individual and some other question related to it.
VERY VERY EASY.

3)DATA SUFFICIENCY:-(5 questions)
      In it basic questions (mostly related to geomatery) were asked.Be sure you know the formulas of basic figures.EASY

4)DATA INTERPRETATION:-(5 questions)
      This was the easiest part.Once you get to know what question is asking,it\'ll be over within a minute. simple addition subtraction was all we were required to do.

5) STATEMENT PUZZLE:-(5 questions)
       Statement like 5 friends are their,eash of them different games,etc etc.
VERY EASY.

6)SYLLOGISM:-(5 questions)
       Very easy.Just take into consderation every possibility.

REASONING part was VERY VERY EASY.
We are also given a rough sheet which is attached to our O.M.R sheet.Make sure you do rough work in provided sheet only.They might check whether you have done the questions by yourself or not.


VERBAL PART
QUESTIONS:40
TIME:35 MINUTES
LEVEL:TOUGH

In verbal part,all you need to do is manage your time appropriately.Don\'t get confused.Just follow your instinct.If you think you are good at RC\'S,if your reading speed is good,solve them first,they\'l fetch you more marks.
Other then that,there were questions on:-

1)CHOOSING THE CORRECT SENTENCE FROM 4 CHOICES GIVEN.
2)CORRECTING UNDERLINED PART OF A SENTENCE.
3)FILL IN THE BLANKS.
4)INFERENCE BASED QUESTIONS
5)2 R.C\'S(ONE LONG,ONE SHORT).


Then at about 1:50 a.m our pre-placement talk started,in which we were told about the company and our package.

Then started the waiting period.Full of anxiety,over-loaded tension.
At about 6:50 p.m ,a teacher came with the list of student who cracked the written test and started announcing the names.I bet everyone could hear their heratbeats at that moment.Out of 660-670 students,about 350 were able to crack the written.
I was one of them :-)
I guess verbal part was the deciding factor,since everyone was able to crack reasoning section.


Then after waiting in the auditorium for about 2 1/2 hours my name was called for interview.One of there guy took a bunch of students for interviews and divided them appropriately among many HR guys.

I waited for about another half hour outside my HR\'S cabin.

Then my turn came.

ONE TIP:-BE CONFIDENT IN WHATEVER YOU ARE SAYING.

The guy who interviewed me was around 60 year old.

First of all he shook my hand and asked "HOW ARE YOU DOING YOUNG MAN"

Be confident in replying,always have a positive face,keep smiling.

Then he asked me to sit down,which i appreciated with a thank you.

Then he asked me basic things from the form we filled in mouring,like for how long you have been living in mohali ,living with parents or not,where your father works,school name and a few more questions.*CONFIDENCE SHOULD REFLECT IN YOUR VOICE*

Then he asked for my resume.
After reading my resume for about 30 seconds,he asked me to explain one of my project.
Though i did\'nt knew much about the project,i explained him it\'s basic working,requirement(SOME of them i made up then and there only).
Then he asked about my experience from summer internship,the project and institute.
Make sure you know about your project(not technical aspect,just basic fundamentalsand working).
Then he asked about extra-curricular activities in university.
Then he gave me a simple puzzle,i solved it.
Then he asked me why i wanted to join infosys.
Then pet questions like strengths,are you willing to travel,hobbies-related.
THATS IT FOR THE INTERVIEW.
He again shook my hand with a smile.

TIP: BE PATIENT,NEVER LOOSE YOUR CONFIDENCE AND PREPARE YOUR RESUME VERY WELL..ABOUT 70% QUESTIONS ARE FROM YOUR RESUME ONLY.

Then at about 10:15 pm my interview was over.
Then again began the waiting session.
Results were announced at around 4:00a.m and i was selected :-)
What a feeling it was.:-)
From about 350 students who cleared the written,around 250 were selected.
INTERVIEW all depends on your luck,the kind of HR you get.
