Hi everyone!! I attended the IBM GBS drive on 20th Nov, 2014. It was an on campus drive. I was noticed regarding this drive on 17th Nov night. Previously I didn\'t had any practice of placement papers of IBM. So, I started preparing for it from that night only.
Guys, I want to say that practice as much as previous years placement papers from m4maths and also IndiaBix. These two websites were of immense help during my preparation.
On 20th Nov, we were asked to come at 9am sharp. But the process of Aptitude started near about 11am.
2 sections of questions.
1st section was of series pattern:
I practiced nearly 150 series questions from m4maths. So, I got many of the questions common, or the process of solution was common. The series was of moderate level of difficulty for me. Every question had a timer of 2.25 secs. You have to be fast while solving.
The 2nd part was of normal Quant:
The chapters covered were Profit and Loss, Percentage, Fraction, Simple Interest, Average, etc {no need to practice Permutation and Comb , probability, Logarithm, Number system, geometry}.
The main problem was here also there was a timer of 2.25 secs, but to find out the ans you had to do a lot of calculations, like 192x156-45935, or .11 to the power of 11 and no calculator was allowed. So for the first few questions, I could not give the correct ans, I made guesses, later for few questions I gave correct ans. Both sections had 18 questions. I think that from 1st section I did correct for maybe 13,14 ques, and from 2nd section 7,8 questions were correct. There was no sectional cut off.
About from 1158 students, 185 students cleared 1st round. I was one of them. Next was English round. Prepare the given english questions from IndiaBix. Many were common. Prepare about Business letters, Emails, Voice change, etc. Again 128 students cleared the 2nd round. Again, I was one of them.
Next day we came for interview. Best interview for me till date. I entered the room.
Me: Hi, Sir {handshaked with him}
He: Hi, Please have a seat. Tell me about yourself.
Me: Told {tell about hobbies, currently what doing, schooling, parents, future goal}
He: Asked about my project.
Me: Told.
He: What if one of your teammates is not doing his work in the project?
Me: I will first tell him what needs to be done, Tell about how will he profit from this project, incentives, etc.
He: What if still he does not listen?
Me: May be then, I have to go to my project leader and tell him about my team mate\'s attitude.
He: Is still he\'s not listening?
Me: Then remaining of my team members will do his part and make a complain against my member to the higher authority after the project gets delivered.
He: Asked about latest technologies like Cloud computing , Big data.
He: Will you relocate?
Me: Yes sir.
He: Nice meeting you !
Me: Thank you sir {again handshaked}.
Out of 128 students, 120 got selected. Again I was one of them!!!!! yeaahh! IBMer.
IBM selection levels get easier as they proceed i.e. English round was easier than Quant , and Interview was easier than English. Just want to say that have faith on yourself and prepare yourself as much as you can. There is no alternative for hard work and confidence!
Best of luck.
