Hi everyone, I appeared in the GRSE Assistant Manager recruitment examination held on 13.07.2014 on mechanical engineering paper. Here I am sharing my test experience and some of the questions that I could remember (they had taken the question paperback).
Pattern:
The question paper consisted of 85 questions, 35 from general aptitude and 50 from technical section. The time duration is 90 minutes.
Experience:
35 aptitude questions were very easy but were laborious too. They did not allow a calculator but the questions were too difficult to calculate and hence consumed a great period. About the technical section, the theoretical questions were very easy whereas the industrial questions were tough, for anyone who has not experienced any technical system.
Some questions:
1) A feeler gauge is used to measure- cannot recall all the options but they were like height, roughness etc.
2) Gear vernier is used to measure- options were gear tooth thickness, module, pitch line distance etc.
3) Which is used as a cooler in the annealing process- water, brine etc were options.
4) If a Ranking cycle has 33% efficiency then the efficiency of the Carnot cycle will be - more, less, equal, cannot say.
5) If work done in a cycle is 1/4th of heat transferred to the sink then its efficiency is- 20%, 25% and so on.
6) Helical grooves are provided on drill machines because,
7) If the drill diameter is 30 mm then the approach will be 6mm, 12mm, 9 mm, 15 mm.
8) Mercury is used in barometers the main reason is- low vapor pressure, high density, negligible capillarity etc.
9) Dimensions of kinematic viscosity.
10) Dimensions of surface tension.
11) Pump converts- mechanical energy into pressure energy, pressure head into velocity head, velocity head into pressure head, none of these.
12) Nusselt no varies with Reynolds no and Prandtl No in turbulent and laminar flow respectively as.
