Hello all, I have, for all these days referred to this website for preparing for placements. So, I thought its time I give back something to this website by sharing my experiences with you all! Ford is one company which I always wanted to work for. So, 29th October was a big day. The process for on-campus recruitment was as follows:
Day 1 (29th October):
Aptitude round, which included quantitative, verbal and technical sections (related to your domain). It covered basic topics like Comprehension, words and meanings, ratio and proportion, speed and time, work and time, averages, etc. If you're from electronics, if at all, they'll ask you about the basics of field theory, control systems, digital, analog, communication systems and micro-controller. Out of 150 people, they shortlisted around 21 people.
Day 2 (31st October): GD, group discussion round and the final interview round.
Group discussions usually have a general topic and not a case study. The topic was "passion and money, what should be the youth's choice". We were 7 people and the two evaluators judged us based on our communication skills, presentation skills, and how brief we are on that topic.
(To be noted: they don't see the content of what you speak, so just be confident about yourself and present properly).
The GD results were announced shortly in an hour or so and I was through to the final round. Out of 21 people, 11 of us were through to the interview round.
Interview round: The two interviewers welcomed me. Do not forget to shake hands with them and carry a bright smile on your as it shall reflect your mood and attitude. So these are some probable questions that you might face:
1) They asked me to introduce myself briefly, after which they asked me about my hobbies. If you are a part of some clubs in your college, don't forget to mention it.
2) Explanation of the projects that you've done as a part of your curriculum.
3) They might ask you certain C, C++, and OS concepts if you're from comp science-related branches.
4) "Why ford?"
5) "Are you ok with relocating ?" (answer this carefully as there are only 3 plants of ford in the whole country).
6) "What are your key competencies?"
7) "Why shift from EC branch to a software-related job?"
8) They might give you a small puzzle to solve.
We had to wait for a long time for the results to be announced. Finally, after 3 hours, they announced the results. Out of 11 people, they selected 9 of us. Out of these 9, 8 of us were from ECE, and only one was from the CSE branch. We were delighted and jumped around after our selection to one of the best automobile motor companies ever.
That day, I realized that "Just hours of good luck can change your stars and fortunes forever". You just need to have belief in yourself and wait for the right moment. At the end of the day, its all about luck and your art of convincing people.
