Placement Papers - CTS

IndiaBix helped me a lot through the placement session, so I owe this interview experience to IndiaBix.

Eligibility criteria - 6 (mine was 6.5):

I am from ECE branch. Around 1700 students participated in the on-campus Cognizant placement drive. Written test was held on 27 Sept.

Quant -16 questions -16 min.
Reasoning -15 questions -15 min.
Verbal ability -25 questions- 25 min.

Written test is easy, the thing that matters the most is speed, it can be tricky to solve 16 quant ques in 16 min, so be through with RS Aggarwal, it is more than sufficient for cracking the written.

311 students made it to the interviews and I was one of them.

My interview happened to be on 29 Sept so luckily I had the opportunity to prepare for 1 whole day.

Two interviews were to be held, first the technical interview, and those who cleared this one were made to appear for the HR interview.

Technical Interview:

Int - Hello, tell me about yourself.
Me - Told.

Int - So what are your area of interests?
Me - Telecommunications and core Java.

Int - Tell me all about telecommunications, with real life applications.
Me - Told.

Some more basic questions from it, like the OSI Model, protocols.

Then,

Int - Tell me about your projects.
Me - Told (be through with your projects, all the circuits diagrams, and results).

Int - So, you know programming?
Me - Yes, I am comfortable with C and core Java both.

Int - Tell me about classes objects in Java and how Java is different from C.
Me - Told.

Int - What is function overriding? write code and explain.
Me - Done.

Int - Why IT?
Me - Told.

Int - Short term goals?
Me - Told.

Int - Ok, why your CGPA is low in B.Tech?
Me - Told (I recommend be honest and creative for this answer).

Int - Ok, so any questions for me?
Me - Asked (do ask a question here).

Around 185 cleared the technical interview and I was one of them.

After 10 min,

HR Interview,

Int - So how are you today?
Me - Told (I recommend to be a little creative here).

Int - So what\'s your daily routine?
Me - Told.

Int - Tell me about your family.
Me - Told.

Int - Suppose you are assigned to a project which is not of your area of interest, what would you do?
Me - Told.

It was a short interview and very few pals got rejected from here.

Results - Total of 166 students got selected and I was one of them. Be confident, always maintain eye contact, brush up the basics of programming languages, your area of interests, your academic projects, keep your resume simple.
