Hi everyone, this is Subhajit. Cognizant conducted an off campus this year (2016) for 2015 pass-out batch only in Kolkata.

Designation: Programmer analyst trainee (PAT).

Criteria: 60% throughout 10th, HS, B.Tech, no active backlogs.

Cognizant recruitment procedure:

1. Aptitude test (English 25, math 16, reasoning 14).
2. Technical interview.
3. HR.

Online aptitude test (conducted by aspiring minds):

I registered through aspiring minds for this off campus. They sent me hall ticket 2 days before the online test. Online test was on 30th March 2016. There were 1000-1200 candidates. English part was full of synonyms and there were two passages. This part was a little bit tough. But math and reasoning parts were easy. I cleared Aptitude test and they sent me to call letter next day morning 31st March 2016.

First of all, they checked all the documents that were required and requested us to wait in the cafeteria. They called 500-600 candidates. They were more than 15 panels. My turn came.

Technical interview (Duration: 25 min):

Me: May I seat?
Interviewer: Have a seat.

Interviewer: Introduce yourself.
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Do you know sorting?
Me: Yes.

Interviewer: Write quicksort.
Me: Wrote (they will give time, don't worry)

Interviewer: Now explain it with ARRAY.
Me: Explained.

Interviewer: What is SDLC?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: What are the seven layers of networking?
Me: Told some of them (forgot 2 of them).

Interviewer: Difference between interpreter and assembler?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Explain your final year project and what was your role?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Do you know Java?
Me: Yes.

Interviewer: So write any palindrome program using Java.
Me: Wrote.

Interviewer: Okay time up. Wait over there. They will call you.
Me: Thank you, sir.

After 3 mins, they told me that I passed the technical round and sent me for HR round. There were 5-7 panels.

HR round (Duration: 15-20 mins)

Interviewer: Introduce yourself.
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Ok. Now say something that is not in your CV.
Me: I was first rejected from CTS in our college and that was my first interview also.

Interviewer: Ok. What is your father's profession?
Me: Railway officer.

Interviewer: So, do you applied for any govt job?
Me: No sir. I am very much interested in IT technologies so I have not tried for any govt job.

Interviewer: Ok. Do you have any plan to do any master degree in future?
Me: No sir. I want to start any career with a renowned company like yours and develop myself with various technologies.

Interviewer: Gave a puzzle. (they gives puzzles).
Me: Solved it. (it was easy).

Interviewer: Any problem with relocation?
Me: No sir, I have no problem.

Interviewer: Okay. Now read the last two lines of this paper and tell me the meaning (He gave the terms and condition paper).
Me: Told and explained.

Interviewer: Sign in if you're agree with it.
Me: Signed.

Interviewer: Ok. You can go now.
Me: Thank you, sir.

From technical round, 65% were rejected. Near 200 attempted HR round. After HR round, there was a documents verification round. In this round, they stamped all the documents.

They sent me the offer letter on 8th April 2016.

Don't take too much pressure. Stay cool and be confident. They ask very basics. Be prepared. All the best everyone for your future!
