Cognizant Technology Solutions Interview Experience - Chandigarh, October 12, 2015

Posted By : Atul Rating : +83, -7
Hii. I am here to share my interview experience of CTS. I am an ECE student.

So here it is.

Cognizant came to chandigarh university campus for mass hiring in October.

It was a two day process in which first day was for aptitude exam.

Aptitude test was of moderate level. It was AMCAT test.

OUT of 2000 students. 700 students were shortlisted for interview rounds.

On the next day interviewing process started. Waited for 3-4 hours and then I was summoned for technical interview. I was the first to be interviewed after the lunch break. It worked as a bonus for me :) as the interviewer was in fresh mood.

I opened the door and humbly asked if I could enter with a smile. He smiled too and let me in n tole me to sit. He was doing some work on his laptop. And I was just gazing at him for 5 minutes. Then he came onto me and asked for an introduction. I did.

Then he asked me why did I choose ece and getting interviewed for an IT giant. I was left blank and that time and just smiled and said sir as I am nascent stage of my career and I have to weigh many options. He replied with a smile.

Then technical questions started on me.

1) Degree and cardinality in sql?

2) Gave me to tables and told me to join them using different type of joins.
I said sir my understanding in sql is not that deep. Sorry sir.(of course with a smile :).
He said ok :).

3) Asked me to write some queries featuring Distinct, average, groupby, having etc?
Answered all.

4) Then he came onto C &C++.
Asked me difference between C and C++?

5) Polymorphism?

6) I don't know what came in his mind and came onto sql again. Asked me to write a query on joining tables?

I said I'll try sir. I was left blank and just acted as if I was trying. After 5 minutes I think he got a bit annoyed and said if you don't know we can go on. I said yes. Sorry sir. I got nervous but still smiled. And it worked he smiled back too.

7) He said last question. Write a program to design a calculator doing multiple functions as the user orders.

I wrote it and he was happy seeing that and smiled and said good (that saved me).

Then he asked me if had any location constraints? I said no.

And he said god bless son.  (I knew somewhere after seeing this that I am going through). I thanked him and parted.

After 10 minutes I was summoned for HR interview and rest who were not selected in technical interview were sent back.

HR interview was taken by a gentle lady. Asked me to introduce myself. Then asked me to sing a song as I have included singing as hobby in resume (I did and she was happy). Then she asked me what places have I visited. Any location constraints etc?

And interview was over. Tech interview took 20 minutes and HR -10 minutes.

After a week result were announced and out of 700 students 250 got finally selected.

1) Confidence is the key.

2) Smile (as it worked for me).

3) Comprehensive knowledge of C, C++ and Sql.

4) Good communication skills.

Hope it helps you.
