Cognizant Technology Solutions Interview Experience - Jaypee Institute Of Information Technology, Noida, 7th October 2014

Posted By : Saurabh Singh Rating : +32, -3
Hello People,

I'm a student of Jiit Noida, cognizant came on 7 October in our college. It was the first time cogni visited our campus. The process started with a bang. Out of 1400 eligible students 1127 were selected in written. And finally after the interviews 701 students were selected.

There were 3 rounds:

1- Written conducted by AMCAT (aspiring minds).
2- Technical round (mostly students were rejected in this round only).
3- HR round (very less people are rejected in this round).

Now the written round had 3 sections quant, verbal, logical. Overall the difficulty level was moderate. But you have to manage your time efficiently and more in verbal section. RS Aggarwal and IndiaBix is more than enough. Believe me you can get direct questions from IndiaBix. So my suggestions is do IndiaBix whole heartedly. You will sail through it.

Now the tech round:

When my name was called the interviewer came out the room to give the papers of the previous interviewee to the coordinator and he shook hands with me and then we went together to the room. He was a south Indian guy. And a very decent person.

Interviewer: So saurabh what can I know about you.
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Is there any education gap?
Me: Yes.

Interviewer: Why?
Me: Told, for preparation of engineering entrance exams.

Interviewer: So, you are an electronics guy. So why do you want to work for an IT company.
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Tell me the difference b/w microprocessor and microcontroller.
Me: Told.

Interviewer: What is ram and rom? (framed from my answer).
Me: Told.

Interviewer: So what basically is the use of ram and is it permanent or temporary memory?
Me: Told. But I told ram is a permanent memory very confidently which was wrong. He asked are you sure? I said yes sir absolutely.

Interviewer: What is a motherboard?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Have you studied transformers?what is step up and step down transformer.

Me: Yes sir, I studied it in my 2nd or 3rd sem. Though I didn't knew much.
Interviewer: Any questions from me?

Me: This is where you can create a difference. I asked that how often does cognizant send their developers to abroad. He was a bit startled. Then he explained me very nicely for about 5 mins. And then I again asked a question that is it necessary to carry a passport while joining the company? He said no not necessary. But it is advisable that at this point of time you should have a passport.

Then after waiting for sometime results came for TR round and I was selected. I was sent to HR. He was also a south Indian guy. And it was just a formality. He asked me some basic HR questions relocate and all. And then he asked me to sign on a declaration that I would not have any problem if the company relocates me anywhere.

Then finally by gods grace I was selected. A big thanks to IndiaBix. I would suggest that before going for interview stop preparing at-least from 1hr before. Just be calm and confident. They only check your confidence and communication skills.
