Cognizant Technology Solutions Interview Experience - DLF building hyderabad, april 26 2014
Before sharing my experience. I have a sincere advice to all job seekers is don't ever give up or lose confidence, if you don't have confidence at least try to behave as overconfident at interview.
Im from hyd, got this opportunity from jkc. Written exam was totally reasoning and verbal. No aptitude. Verbal was tough. Out of 1200 students only 139 are shortlisted. Verbal was key player in written exam.
Then later got to know my interview date was 3 days after the results announced and venue was DLF building. It was my first visit and totally awsum.
My interview experience:
Apart from 139 students there were more 300 students from other colleges at waiting hall. We all were waiting for our turn. Coordinators calling group wise and I was lucky (actually verbal score was good so direct tr known by rumors) so I dint had group discussion or jam. Some fellow students had gd or jam. Elimination probability was high at gd or jam.
My Tech round:
TR: Come in mr. Xxxxx have your seat.
Me: Thank you sir.
TR: So XXXX tell me about yourself.
Me: Briefly covered personal, technical achievements, hobbies, family background, and future aim in 2 mins.
TR: Since you are from electronics background. How would you manage yourself in IT.
Me: Sir personally I am very much interested towards programming. And my both mini as well as major have programming as important part.
TR: What was your role in mini and major?
Me: In mini I was member and my role was coding since I was the only who was good in coding in my group. And major I was team leader and designed as well as programmed in vhdl along with my team mates.
TR: What are your key strengths useful for IT company>.
Me: Gave a good explanation but he was still not satisfied>.
TR: Explain your mini project since I written a journal on it as per resume>.
Me: Explained very basic and cleanly without using any electronic keyword. Application wise and why its diffrent from existed model.
TR: Ok mr xxxx, your good but what makes you unique in your class or college>.
Me: Said and explained with incident.
TR: Said to write a program on given array question. (question was 100 nos. From 1to100 stored in a array on length 100. Question is one no. is missing and tell me index no.pf missing no. And missing no is replaced with zero. ).
Me: I was stunned. I don't even know how to write array program. Hez given some question. But fyn as I said don't show your fear on face.
I started solving question without writing program.
TR: Can you write program?
Me: I can tell the logic to solve but can't write program because we had C in 1st year I don't remember array concept.
TR: Okay write logic>.
Me: Said logic about index no. But could;not tell about the missing no.
TR: He explained the remaining logic.
Me: I was listening carefully.
TR: Any questions?
Me. No sir.
TR: You may leave?
Me: Thank you sir.
After 20 mins I was called for hr round.
I was first for HR round.
HR: Tell me briefly about your self.
Me: Again again but this tym I was very much comfortable because hr was actually listening me questions on my hobbies.
For around 20 mins discussion was about my hobbies.
But I was confident and he was satisfied.
HR: Tell me your weakness.
Me: Sir I am good in english but not great. I m working on it. And wanna improve it to make communication easier.
HR: Good, tell me two examples about your quick learning.
Me: Explained one and he was satisfied with my answer.
HR: So it was good to meet you. Don't worry all d best for future.
Me: Thank you sir, thanks a lot.
Hr interview was my best interview till date. I was confident and frank about myself.
After 10 days I got my offer letter. One thing I known from interview that, one does not require great percentages, awards, journals, certificates to get job. Just having good verbal to clear written and be calm and confident in interview.
All the best guys.
