Cognizant Technology Solutions Interview Experience - Chennai, 13th April, 2014

Posted By : Divya Sai Rating : +212, -4
Hello Friends,

This is Divya from Andhra Pradesh. I did my B. Tech in CSE, and am a 2013 pass out.

I am going to share my experience with Cognizant Technology Solutions Recruitment Drive, held at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The flow went like this:

28th March, 2014: Applied for CTS through Aspiring Minds.

30th March, 2014: Got Hall Ticket from AMCAT calling for CTS Recruitment for an Aptitude Test.

6th April, 2014 was my AMCAT Exam for CTS.

AMCAT for CTS consists of 3 sections.

English 25 questions - 25 minutes.
Maths 16 questions - 16 minutes and.
Reasoning 14 questions - 14 minutes.

It is an easy exam, provided you practice prior with sample papers. One who manages time well, especially with Quantitative section, can easily qualify the written examination.

I got the result and call for the interview on 10th April, 2014.

(People, here there is a point. The call for interview may vary from 1-7 days and upto 15 days in some rare cases. If you are confident about the written exam and didn't get the call in a week, just don't panic. You may receive. Just be patient.  (:).

My interview was scheduled for 13th April, 2014, at 10:00, at CTS Office.

More than 1500 people reported.

(People, there maybe some hundreds or more. Never panic seeing the huge number. You just need to concentrate on your interview and performance only. Just ignore the other crowd. You should only see yourself and no one else.  (:).

The schedule was late and they started calling the candidates and verifying their candidature. It was 14:30 by the time I got my name called out and it took another 30 minutes for verification. Then I was redirected to the Interviewing "HALL". Yes, it was not like normal interviews, rather I would call it as "Samuhik Interviews" :-P.

The candidates were beyond accommodation and they arranged 30 tables with chairs in the cafeteria and interviews 30 at a time, to compensate the late schedule.

I got call for technical interview at around 16:00. I went to the respective table.

Me: Good Evening Sir.

Interviewer: Good Evening, Tell me about yourself.

Me: Started telling. And while in middle,

Interviewer: Okay stop now! Which is your facorite programming language? For which I said Java and C.

He took a paper and pen, drew a 3 tier architecture, explained and gave a program to write.

Firstly, I took the paper, explained him the question, confirmed his requirement and started off with solution. I wrote a simple program using functions and a PL/SQL procedure for Database and explained him.

He: Okay. Write a program to find out biggest number in a set of 10 nos.

I wrote and explained.

He asked about JDBC ODBC, JavaScript, Compilation Phases, SDLC and explanations to each and every phase. Friends, one wouldn't believe. My interview went hardly for 7 minutes. After the SDLC Explanation, He said you may leave now, and I left. Friends, never assume that who has interview taken for more time like 50 mins, 1 hour etc, will only be selected. Its a wrong impression. I have seen, and I also am an example for getting rejected even after having interview taken for more than the general time. It depends. The interviewer basically looks for your readiness to take challenges and your explanation, how well you have analyzed it and came up with an optimal solution in that instance. They look for the minimum basics and most importantly, the basic personality you possess. Be confident, precise in your answers, and assertive in your approach. You will be in!

Then I left for the Hall where HR Interviews were being taken. They said me to wait for a call. I was called for HR within 2 minutes. I went, and 2 HR's interviewed me. It went for about 15 minutes. All general questions, and Why I wanted to b in cognizant etc. I answered and left. Later in 15 minutes, they called for Certificates Verification, verified and told us they would mail in a week the results. I received the confirmation i.e. my offer letter on 15th April, 2014. Going to be a part of CTS soon!

Friends, I am a 2013 pass out and got job almost after a year. I have been through so many failures too, like you all who has struggled/is struggling for a job and morley, to prove oneself. Today the opportunity knocked my door. Same with all of you. Consistent efforts and positive approach, being hopeful and composed always, will get you through all the odds. This will not only help you for getting a job or anything, but its helpful for your entire life. It is never too late. This is a period of improvement. As they say, FIRST LEARN AND THEN REMOVE THE ALPHABET "L".  (:.

So be positive, hopeful and calm always. Believe in yourself. You are the best!

Good luck and All the very best. May God bless us all.

Jai Hind!
