Cognizant Interview Experience - DLF hyderabad April 13.

Posted By : Sai Rating : +74, -4
Hii guys. I don't want to discuss about written test or the pattern. I am here to share my interview experience. I was from EEE. My interview reporting time was 8'0 clock. I went there by 8:30.

Basically as most of the indians I was late. But when I go down from the auto I had seen a long line in front of me. The security guards are checking all the details and sending in one by one. And we all taken to a seminar hall which can accommodate nearly 400 students. Then the cognizant guys are calling the names of the candidates who got selected from written test conducted by AMCAT.

After 20 names here comes my name. At 9:40. But didn't respond b'coz of fear. I didn't prepare well. I can gain some time to prepare. Basically I was from eee I thought to get placed in a mnc people need multiple skills for non-it people.

So I kept all the basic topics like HTML, SQL and core Java, C. But it was a paradox when I had gone through some resumes. They just kept C language as there software skills and cleared technical round. I was waited for 1hr 60 min to attend for technical interview. For me it was a good thing. Because I met a nice TR person.

TECHNICAL ROUND:

He was almost 6 feet. No moustache wore a t-shirt and a blue jeans looking around 32-33 years. Asking for his juice in a funny way.

1. Can I come in sir?
A. Yes, you can. So you are Mr. __. No, sir it's __. After 2 sec sit down Mr. __.

2. xyz college where is this?

A. Told blah blah blah. One should not discourage his own college in interview. TR are HR checks this too (It is a new college no one knows even the guys who locate 8 kms far from it. Such publicity it has. ).

3. So you are good at C?
A. Yes sir.  (Really I was good at C).

4. Gave me a program to find greatest of 3 numbers.
A. Wrote.

5. So you know cor java perfectly ?
A. Basics of core java sir.

6. Questioned on basic definitions of all oops concepts?
A. Explained with a real time examples.

7. Diff between method constructor and diff btw method overloading and overriding?
A. Told.

8. Then he came back to C language questioned on all definitions like pointers array ?
A. Told.

9. What did you do since 1 year ? I was 2013 passed out.
A. I was working as XXX at XYZ institute.

10. Upto 12th you got good grades what happened in B-Tech?
A. Told participated in circular activities.

11. Ok. Tell me about your project?

A. It was the first time I was discussing about my project. I don't even know what it was. It wasn't done by us. It was a paid project worth 4500. What we got in return is 8 pages of project original. After adding all unwanted data it became 120 pages.

I was absent when the project guy taught our project. What I knew about the project was it regulates reactive power in t/m lines. That's it. After a late ni8 study I compressed my project to 4 pages. I was tensed while explaining my project. He was not even looking at me he was writing something about me. They need to answer everything about you. Why they are hiring you pros cons everything.

Then he gave a review about my interview. He started like this. The first thing I got about you was negative. Then later you turned into positive. Why you are so frightening while facing your interview I won't eat you (with smiling face). I made some silly reasons.

He helped me by knowing me what an employer looks for 10 min. You can find them in regular interview videos in youtube. He made me enthusiastic with his lessons. Thanks sir without you I can't clear this.

Cons:

You came very lazy into my room.

You are not confident.

You didn't even smile at me.

No eye contact.

Pros:

Technical knowledge (in computer side).

10. Any questions?

A. Can I know your name sir. Sorry, I shouldn't disclose my name as per company rules.

After 5-7 min they asked me to wait. Only one thing I thought after coming from tr round. I met a good person in my life. Luckily I was qualified for next round.

I got 15 min after technical round I did all the practice to overcome my flaws what I did in previous round. Then I was called for hr interview.

HR interview:

1) May I come in sir (with confident voice in a polite manner).
A. Yes, come in. Take your seat.

2) Tell me about yourself ?
A. Told.

3) Why did you have a year gap?
A. Told (prepare an answer for it a +ve one).

4) What did your father do ?
A. Told.

5) Tell me about your project?
A. Told (he was observing eye contact so I maintained that).

6) You haven't done any internship ?
A. No, sir my college didn't allowed us to go outside. He got furious and raised his voice a little bit higher.

7) Can I hire you on the basis of only this by enquiring in your college?
A. Yes, sir you can (with more confident said the reason behind it).

8) Thank you.
A. Thank you sir.

THINGS THAT EVERY TR OR HR LOOKS AT:

1. You should be a self learner.
2. Hardworking nature.
3. Confident.
4. You should be aware of your subject (at least project).
5. Smile.
6. Eye contact.

I got the confirmation letter on 3rd day evening itself that I was hired. I thank from the bottom of my heart to my technical interviewer for selecting me after so many cons.

EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY. IF IT'S YOUR DAY NO ONE CAN STOP YOU. LUCK SHOULD FAVOR YOU.
