Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation Pool drive Interview Experience - Vaagdevi College, Warangal, March 07, 2014

Posted By : P.Saidulu, Rgukt-Iiit Basar(Ece Dept) Rating : +26, -2
Hi friends, This is saidulu. I am from RGUKT-IIIT BASAR college.

I am from ECE department.

I would like to share my CTS pool drive interview experience:

Entirely, 390 students from IIIT-BASAR attended the CTS written test at Vaagdevi college through JKC (Jawahar Knowledge Center) on Feb 21, 2014.

They will take the your resume with photo affixed to it before writing the written test.

Totally there are 3 rounds:

--> Written Test.
--> Technical Round.
--> HR Round.

Written Test consists of two sections. They are:

1. Analytical Section:

---Consists of 30 questions with one mark each with a time limit of 30 minutes.

---Topics like Data interpretation, Syllogism, Coding and Decoding, Picture reasoning are involved in this section.

--- No negative marking.

2. Verbal Ability:

--- Consists of 25 questions with one mark each with a time limit of 30 minutes.

--- Topics like Sentence Correction, Sentence Ordering, Passages are involved in this section.

--- No negative marking.

After one week, written test results were uploaded to JKC website. Entirely 169 students out of 390 selected for further rounds from our campus. Luckily I was one among them.

Interviews were held on 7th March, 2014 at Vaagdevi College.

My Technical interview was conducted at 7PM. It went on like this.

Me: Good Evening Sir.

TR: Good Evening. Take your seat.
Me: Thank you sir.

TR: You got 87.33% marks in 10th class. This is not a top score?
Me: Yes sir, that is not a top score. I was always an average student, luckily got selected to RGUKT-BASAR after 10th class and I am here to attend the CTS interview today.

TR: So, You know C and Java and can program in it?
Me: Yes, sir.

TR: What are the differences between C and Java?
Me: Told.

TR: What is an objected oriented programming?
Me: Explained well.

TR: How many principles of object oriented programming are there?
Me: Told.

TR: No. there are 5 principles of object oriented programming are there. Try to recall it once again.
Me: I understood that he was trying to test my confidence because there are only 4 principles of object oriented programming are there. I told that as far as my knowledge is concerned there only 4 principles of object oriented programming are there. Then he was satisfied.

TR: What are 4 principles of object oriented programming and Explain them with real world examples?
Me: I explained very well and he seemed to have a good impression.

TR: Explain your project?
Me: Explained.

TR: I'm done. You can leave now?
Me: Thank you sir. By the way have a nice day.

TR: You too have nice day. Thank you.
Me: Thank you sir.

I was told to wait in waiting room to get technical results. After 15-30 minutes one person came to that room and announced the results. Luckily I was one among them.
After announcing the results, we went to another room to attend HR interview. It went one like this:

Me: Good Evening Sir.

HR: Good Evening. Take your seat.
Me: Thank you sir.

HR: He was talking to some other person on phone and after that he was charging the cell phone.
Me: I understood that he was testing my patience and I maintained a smile on my face during that time.

HR: Describe your hometown?
Me: Told very well.

HR: You are from ECE department. Why should I hire you when there lot of CSE guys available and they can program well when compare with you?

Me: Well sir, as a fresher I don't have any experience. But I think that I am having the ability to learn new concepts very quickly which you can easily understand by looking at my skills like C, Java, PHP, MYSQL, CSS, HTML.

Even though I am from ECE department I was able to learn all those languages on my own and we adapted a pedagogy like "learning by doing" at our campus that will allow an individual to learn himself and cope up with the situation.

HR: Is there any question for me?
Me: No sir.

HR: I'm done with you. You can leave now.
Me: Thank you sir.

After two weeks results were displayed on the JKC website. And luckily I was one among them. I think this will help you and never get disappointed when you can not clear interview because it entirely depends on two factors like luck and talent.
