Today after 5 months I got official mail from Cognizant regarding my selection.

Earlier they had confirmed my selection but still I was waiting for official mail and today it finally came.

We had three round for getting into this big MNC company.

First round: Aptitude Test.
Second round: Technical Interview.
Third round: HR Interview.

In first round initially while filling the application form we had to write one letter on the plot provided and then we had questions from English which included antonyms and synonyms, fill in the blanks, error finding, completion of sentences and we were given four comprehensions. I have to admit that these comprehension were very lengthy but questions were very simple. Only one have to read the comprehension patiently and answer smartly.

In second part of first round we had questions from reasoning and quant. Reasoning were very simple and easy, but quant. Had little twisted questions. I could not answer all the questions on quant. One good part about this paper was that there was no negative marking.

Result of first round was declared on 19th Nov. And to my surprise I had cleared my first round. Out of 1576 students 737 students had cleared the first round. All 1576 students were from CSE, IT, ECE and EEE departments.

Second Round: Technical Round.

In this round they had asked very simple question what all I can say.

First question: Tell about your self.

Answer: Said (Tell what you have written in CV in sequence and add something that.

Is not written but you think that it should be there. Show your.

Technical skill. ).

Second question: Regarding my project.

Answer: Said.

Third Question: Regarding Internship (Basic questions like what did you learnt, how was the people, why you chose that organisation, how did you come to know about that organisation. ).

Answer: Said (Be confident what you are saying, do not hesitate just think about the answers not about the next questions).

Fourth question: Best subject till date and why?

Answer: Said (Here you have got the best chance to show your technical skill. Add some spices by giving live example of your knowledge. They may even try to make you nervous by looking constantly in your eyes but never give up, be polite and answer every questions. Feel like aaj aane do (just show your skill).

Fifth question: What is prime no. And what is the last prime no. In between 1 and100.

Answer : Said.

Sixth question: How will you enter all the prime no. In a program and how will you find the largest prime no. From 1 to 100. Please write it (Paper and pen were given to me, then said just write down the code not the entire code but something that will give me clear idea about the program).

Answer: Said.

Seventh question: What is other way to find the prime no. In fastest way other than what you said.

Answer: Said.

Ninth question: Difference between C and C++.

Answer: Said.

Tenth question: Operator overloading definition.

Answer: Said.

Eleventh question: Define function and what do you know about it.

Answer: Said.

Twelfth question: Why you want to join a software company, if you have very good knowledge of Physics.

Answer: Said (I combined my physics with software and gave two examples which impressed the interviewer).

Thirteenth question: Don't you think that your Electrical knowledge (physics) will not show any growth in software company i.e. you will be detached from your physics and you will be put in new environment which may hamper your growth.

Answer: Said (No, how will it hamper, I will get chances to merge my physics with your software and bring something good for the society. ).

Fourteenth question: Again after reading my CV he asked what is PCB.

Answer: Said (I had mentioned in my CV about PCB design).

Fifteenth question: Now he asked about my project status till now and about my progress in it.

Answer: Said (I shared my entire knowledge and said that I am the leading member of my group from Electrical side.

Finally my interview was complete and I came out. My mind was relaxed and then after 4 to 7 minutes my result came I. E the guy who was standing outside to send the candidates inside the room for interview came and gave me a sticker to paste on my shirt and go for next round.

Third Round: HR round.

I was outside the room and one guy who was taking the candidates to the panel called out my name wrongly, so I corrected him there itself. The person was shocked and the interviewer saw me. Then I went to the interviewer.

First question: Tell me about your self.

Answer: Said.

Second question: From my CV he read my city name and asked very tactfully about my city.

Answer: Said.

Third question: You stay in Punjab and how long it takes to go home.

Answer: Said (32 hours).

Fourth question: You would like to stay in hostel rather going home.

Answer: Said (No, I actually enjoy the trip).

Fifth question: How do you spend 32 hours in train. Don't you get bored.

Answer: Said (I see the people sleeping on the platform, children playing with their toys, they get alert when they see hawkers coming near their seat. Parents specially mothers had to control there child. Once I caught a child on the train and tried to control her as the mother was not able to manage her children as she was having two children. I bought snacks from the hawker and gave it to the child. It is quiet difficult to manage a child I said. ).

Sixth question: You are good in physics (Seeing the Technical round result) then why you want to join software company.

Answer: Said.

Seventh question: Don't you think country like INDIA need more scientists than software engineers and in future you can become good legacy to India.

Answer: Said (Yes, I am good in physics that is why I would like to join software company to explore my knowledge and merge my electrical knowledge with software to bring good and cheap products for Indian society and for humanity so that every person can use the cheap technology and by doing this I will serve the nation for everyone's better life. ).

Eight question: If you will go for higher studies and become good Scientist that will be more beneficial to country and you will earn name and fame.

Answer: Said (Definitely, I will earn lot of name and fame but If I will join company then also I will earn the same name and fame and respect. For me earning name and fame is not important. I just want to give something to the society.

Ninth question: What is the meaning of your name?

Answer: Said.

Tenth question: Do have any question?

Answer: Said (At present I have any question).

NOTE: If you have any question you can ask. Be patient they might show that you are not impressive but do not lose hope just give your best shot. Keep patience and answer well without loosing interest. Never show negative attitude, give every answer in positive manner.

Good Luck.
