In the case of commercial fuel: It is better to say that they all are not from mineral oils. For instance there is organic fuel oil that is made by using maize cereals.

Bio ethanol are alternatives for diesel and they produced from jatropha, Kanuga, cotton oil seeds etc. And they give nearly 13% less mechanical efficiency as compared to diesel.
