To make the joint, the joint leak proof or fluid tight in pressure. Vessel-like steam boiler.

To make joint steam tight caulking is used. This is done by using caulking tool which burns down the edges of the rivet.

Rivert joints were used in ships. Due to the caulking used in rivet joints, won't the water pressure in the sea leak inside the ship.

CAULKING is the process by which we seal the holes form during rivet and LEAK PROOF is also same to caulking. Caulking is to make the material leak proof by sealing the holes formed during rivet.
