Stress = M*Y/I.
So section modulus is I/Y.
Hence inversely proportional.
So section modulus is I/Y.
Hence inversely proportional.

When a load applied on the beam then bend the beam downward direction.
M/I=F/Y=J/R.
From that equation we said that bending stress indirectly proportion to the section modulus.
M/I=F/Y=J/R.
From that equation we said that bending stress indirectly proportion to the section modulus.
