Answer is none of the above.
Because resilience is the ABILITY of the material to absorb strain energy not the energy absorbed as many of my friends above have pointed out.

Because we all know that when a material is subjected to an external loading internal resisting forces start developing in a material gradually along with the deformation. As the resisting forces moves with the deformation, work is done by these forces.
This work done is stored as Energy and this energy makes the material to regain its size and shape if the loading is within an elastic limit. This stored energy in a body due to straining of a material is what we call as Strain energy and this strain energy per unit volume is called as RESILIENCE. !
The maximum strain energy that can be stored in a material within elastic limit is Proof resilience. Proof resilience per unit volume is called as Modulus of resilience. !
Thank you:).

1) The total strain energy stored in a body is called resilience.
2) Maximum strain energy stored in body is called proof resilience.
2) Maximum strain energy stored in body is called proof resilience.

Total strain energy stored in the body within the elastic limit-resilience.

I think the option should be 'C'. Because resilience means max strain energy stored in a body with in elastics limit.

AS THE UNIT OF RESILIENCE IS joule/m3,
So correct definition is energy absorbed per unit volume within elastic limit is resilience.
Hence answer D.
