Yes you are right @Naman as the speed decreases, the friction between the tool and W/P increases. So as the friction increases wear also increases.

In slow speed the contact between surfaces are more so it is obvious that at slow speed it will wear more.

Cemented carbide tools are used for machining stainless steels, carbon steels which are very hard.

Because it is powder metallurgy technique and cobalt binder and its temperature is high.
