In centrifugal compressors, working fluid i.e. air will enter to the compressor at the impeller eye axially and will be released radially outward or we can say that compressed air will leave the compressor in radial direction.

A centrifugal compressor is a mechanical device that compresses a fluid with the help of the impeller's radial acceleration, which is surrounded by the compressor housing.

In a centrifugal compressor, the air or gas enters axially in the impeller and it discharges radially. Therefore, it is also called a radial compressor.
