Logical Reasoning - Number Series - Discussion

Discussion Forum : Number Series - Type 1 (Q.No. 2)
Directions to Solve
In each series, look for the degree and direction of change between the numbers. In other words, do the numbers increase or decrease, and by how much

2.
Look at this series: 7, 10, 8, 11, 9, 12, ... What number should come next?
7

Answer is : 10.

Solution is: 7+3 = 10, 10-2 = 8, 8+3 = 11, 11-2 = 9, 9+3 = 12, 12-2 = 10 is correct or not.

Suggest me if the logic is wrong.

Add sequence of 3,4,5... in the odd position to the 7 and add sequence of 1,2,3.... in the even position to the 7 then we get our required result.

7+3 = 10.
7+1 = 8.
7+4 = 11.
7+2 = 9.
7+5 = 12.
7+3 = 10.

7, 10, 8, 11, 9, 12, ?

The answer is 10 why because.

Just those are compare to above series in that 7, 8, 9 and 10, 11, 12 sequence no's are display so after 7 comes 8 and after 8 comes 9 and after 9 comes 10 so answer is "10".

there are actually two series,

7, 8, 9, 10...

10, 11, 12...

So,

we place 7, 10, 8, 11, 9, 12, 10.

This is an alternating series.

1st series is 7, 8, 9, 10,.....
2nd series is 10, 11, 12, 13,.....

Look at this series: 7, 10, 8, 11, 9, 12, .

Ans -7+3 = 10,
8+3 = 11,
9+3 = 12,
10 -- Ans (7+1,8+1, (9+1) - Ans.

7, 8, 9, 10...

10, 11, 12...

Then we place 7, 10, 8, 11, 9, 12, 10.

In first number adding three and second number subtracting two and so on you will get the missing number.
