Liquid Mercury has a very low vapor pressure than water. So it will be more sensitive than water to the changes in the atmospheric pressure and ups faster to store the changes.

I think option A is correct because mercury can detect small change in temperature but water can't. Only the visibility can't be the reason for the use of mercury.

One can use color in water if it is about visibility only, at least provide suitable and more scientific information rather than being layman.

Both specific heat capacity and the density of mercury has higher and lower simultaneously that's why both options are correct.

Mercury is preferred because it is very sensitive to very small change in temperature due to its high density.

I have a question. Why does mercury appear to defy the law of gravity when subjected to the extreme cold?

It is very confusing because someone's comments are A option and other one is C.
Which one is right?
Which one is right?

My option is also "C" because of it great visibility whereby mercury can also show the less like 11.
