'Trojan' means a native of 'Troy'. Troy was a city-state. There were two major military states in that region, Troy and Sparta. And both were enemies of each other. According to legend, during the Trojan war, a 'Trojan Horse' was sent inside Troy by Achaeans, who were fighting on Sparta's side, to destroy the city of Troy. Legend says it was a large wooden horse, hollow, inside which Achaean warriors were hidden. In midnight, the soldiers came out and annihilated the people of Troy, killed them and burned down the city.
