Tripitaka is Sanskrit word meaning three Basket. Early days, In Buddhist school used to teaching. They may contain descriptions of Buddha and parables which may help lead to enlightenment of the reader. The three basket are teaching of Sutra, Abhidharma and Vinaya.

Buddhiest letrature is also called pali litrature. Sutta pitaka, vinay pitaka, abhidhama pitaka are known as tripitaka of buddhism

The complete Tripitaka set of the Theravada school is written and preserved in Pali in the Pali Canon. Buddhists of the Theravada school use the Pali variant Tipitaka to refer what is commonly known in English as the Pali Canon.

Vinay pitaka is collection of the rules governing the sangha and monks.
