When Porus was defeated by Alexander, he was brought to Alexander and then Alexander asked Porus what behaviour Porus wants from Alexander. Porus then replied he wants Alexander should treat Porus like a king. Alexander was so impressed that he returned back Porus his kingdom.

While sikandar invaded India he had to cross the river chenab and jhelum which was the kingdom of porous.
