Precambrian a considerable area of peninsular India, the Indian Shield, consists of Archean gneisses and schists which are the oldest rocks found in India. The Precambrian rocks of India have been classified into two systems, namely the Dharwar system and the Archaean system.

During formation of Indian subcontinent the atavalli, chota Nagpur and dharwad plateaus are old and stable consisted with different forms of rocks nd their deposits. But initially the sedimentary rocks and their deposits are found in dharwad at major amount as compared to these both. Hence Dharwad is correct.
