Bromine & mercury both are liquid. Why bromine can't be used in thermometers instead of mercury?

Bromine is non-metal but there is a exemption that it us liquid at room temperature as mercury.

Bromine is a liquid because the intermolecular forces are strong enough so that it does not vapourise. Br forms diatomic molecules and van der Waals interactions are sufficiently strong.
