Gymnosperm are generally medium size tree or tall trees or shrubs. Gymnosperm means seed naked plant in which the ovules are not enclose by any overy wall & remain exposed.

Yeah, gymmnosperms are of primitive type early plants on earth other than bryophytes. They have arisen in early time of evolution. They have xylem and phleom but they have less dense wood in comparison to angiosperms.
