The process of coating metal or steel by zinc to avoid corrosion is galvansing. And for food materials it is done with the aluminium metal it prevents the oxidation process.

Galvansing is a process of coating iron or steel by zinc to avoid corrosion. But galvanised articles are not used for storing food as zinc may reacts and form zinc compounds dangerous to human health.
