It depends on which we put in backwards.
Normal condition: +- +- +- .
If : +--++- then dim light.
If +-+--+ then it not work.
Normal condition: +- +- +- .
If : +--++- then dim light.
If +-+--+ then it not work.

Because voltage is same of three batteries so 1.5+1.5-1.5=1.5, so light will be very dimmer.
