How can we know that the given turn ratio is N2/N1 or N1/N2. Why you take N1/N2 as turn ratio in this problem?

@dilip.
Ratio given 15:1 so N1/N2=15/1 always, where N1=15, N2=1 then you can apply your formula i.e. N2/N1=V2/V1, except V2 all the others like N2. N1 & V1 known and the answer will be 7. 33V.

If they give turns ratio in exact value ie,15 then n2/n1 to be consider 15
if they give 15:1, then n1 = 15, n2 = 1 to be considered. If I'm correct please comment.

Turns ratio K=N2/N1
Use this formula V2/V1=N2/N1
V2/110=1/15
So V2=110/15
V2=7.3
Use this formula V2/V1=N2/N1
V2/110=1/15
So V2=110/15
V2=7.3

Since V2/V1 + N2/N1
In the ques, N2/N1 can b either 15: 1 or i: 15 depending on the type of transformer ( step up or step down)
If it is step up it is 15 : 1 &, if it is step down, it is 1 : 15
Solve 4 both values to get V2 and look at the options whch value of V2 falls correct.
Have a nice day !

Ans is 7.33 according to v1/v2=k.

Some guye are confused,Plz note when ever turn ratio is shown in ratio i.e 15:1 it is always primary:secondary,Hence here N2=15 & N1=1
THUS V2=(N2/N1)*V1 U WILL GET 7.333v
THUS V2=(N2/N1)*V1 U WILL GET 7.333v

Ratio determines whether its a stepdown or stepup here it is said that the ratio is 15:1 so it a stepdown using our ratio for calculations 15=110 1=x we cross multiply x=110/15 which iz equal to 7.333

@sundar.
In above ques. It is not mentioned that it is a step down or step up.

This question is not clear to me as earlier we used this formula :
N2/N1 = V2/V1
hence here also
(N2/N1) = 15/1
Thus ans should be
15/1=V2/10
V2=150
Please make it clear
N2/N1 = V2/V1
hence here also
(N2/N1) = 15/1
Thus ans should be
15/1=V2/10
V2=150
Please make it clear
