Dear friends;
Always we take.
Turn ratio = Primary side (voltage)/Secondary side voltage.
Also it is given. Primary voltage is 110 volts.
So don't be confused.

N1 = 15. N2 does not = 15. N2 = 1.

Hello guys,
For step down transformer, turn ratio > 1.
For step down transformer, turn ratio < 1.
Here turn ratio is 15, that means greater than 1 then we can say that this is a step down transformer.
So O/P will be less than 110 volt and formula will be Np/Ns = 15/1.
For step down transformer, turn ratio > 1.
For step down transformer, turn ratio < 1.

When we speak of turns ratio, it means ratio of primary turns to secondary turns i.e. N1:N2.

N2/N1 = V2/V1.
As per the question N2 = 1, N1 = 15 and v1 = 110.
Putting this in above formula. We can get the value of v2. i.e. 7.3 v.
Have a nice day!

Is it necessary to consider the turns ratio primary as to secondary or secondary as to primary? Please explain.

I am confused in some questions they are taking turn ratio to be N2/N1 while in others they are taking it N1/N2.

It is step down transformer from there turn ratio.

Turns ratio = N1/N2 always and Transformation Ratio = N2/N1 = E2/E1 = I1/I2.
