This is taking about inside (Within) the magnet. So field direction is << [N << S] <<. S to N and Outside the magnet N to S.

Magnetic field is always from NORTH POLE to SOUTH POLE externally and they never intersect each other, they are always looke like an streched rubber.
Within a magnet means inside of an Magnet the magnetic lines of force always from SOUTH POLE to NORTH POLE.
