The Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER), an R&D institute under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), transferred its Microwave-Based Brix Measurement System technology to Toshniwal Hyvac Pvt. Ltd. and Sir Automation Industries. This technology enables precise, real-time measurement of sugar concentration during production, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in sugar mills. The transfer agreement will facilitate large-scale manufacturing of this innovative system, which also has potential applications in other industries like dairy, brewery, and fruit juices.

Germany scientists have discovered fungi capable of breaking down plastics, particularly polyurethane. These fungi, primarily from the genera Aspergillus and Pestalotiopsis, can degrade plastics, offering a potential solution to plastic waste. However, the process has challenges, such as CO2 release and specific environmental conditions that need to be addressed for broader application. This discovery could contribute significantly to reducing plastic pollution.

The 'One India-One Ticket' initiative, launched by Indian Railways and NCRTC, aims to simplify the travel experience for passengers using both mainline trains and RRTS services. Under this system, travellers who purchase an IRCTC train e-ticket can also book RRTS tickets in a unified process. The RRTS ticket will include a QR code valid for four days, allowing smooth transitions between different modes of transport. This initiative is designed to enhance convenience and streamline the booking and travel process for commuters.

The Munal satellite, a collaborative project between Nepal and India, was developed by the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). The satellite aims to build a vegetation density database and represents a significant milestone in space collaboration between the two nations. The launch is facilitated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and NewSpace India Limited (NSIL). RailTel has entered into a partnership with Cylus to strengthen cybersecurity measures for Indian Railways. This collaboration involves deploying CylusOne™ to safeguard railway signalling and telecom systems. The aim is to implement advanced cyber defence technologies, integrate professional services, and build cybersecurity expertise within the rail network. RailTel’s Chief Managing Director, Sanjay Kumar, highlighted the importance of cybersecurity as Indian Railways undergoes significant technological upgrades. This partnership reflects a proactive approach to protecting critical infrastructure from evolving cyber threats.
