NASA launched the Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP) mission to explore the heliosphere and space weather. The mission aims to map the boundary of the heliosphere, study solar wind, energetic particles, and magnetic fields, and understand how solar particles are energised. Additionally, IMAP helps study the heliosphere’s role in shielding Earth from harmful galactic radiation. Positioned at the Earth-Sun Lagrange Point 1 (L1), it provides a stable vantage point for continuous observations, enabling researchers to better understand space weather and its impact on Earth and the solar system.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) received the Changemaker of the Year Award at the BusinessLine Changemaker Awards in September 2025. Under the leadership of DG Raja Babu Ummalaneni, DRDO has advanced India’s indigenous defence technology programs, promoting self-reliance in critical strategic systems. The India-AI Impact Summit is scheduled to take place in 2026, marking the first time a global AI summit will be hosted by a nation from the Global South. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) unveiled the official logo and initiatives for the event. The summit will focus on democratizing access to AI while ensuring safe and trusted ecosystems guided by the principles of People, Planet, and Progress. Flagship programs such as UDAAN Pitch Fest, YuvaAI, AI by HER, and the Global Innovation Challenge will encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive participation in shaping AI’s future.

Albania made global history by becoming the first country to appoint an artificial intelligence-powered cabinet minister, named “Diella.” Announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the Socialist Party assembly in Tirana, Diella was given the critical responsibility of managing public procurement—a sector often vulnerable to corruption and inefficiency. Unlike human ministers, Diella is a virtual AI avatar integrated into the E-Albania digital governance portal. The role aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and efficiency by reducing human bias and streamlining bureaucratic processes. This groundbreaking initiative places Albania at the forefront of digital governance and sparks worldwide debate on AI in politics.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) became the recipient of ISRO’s 100th technology transfer agreement, enabling it to independently manufacture Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs). The agreement was signed with the involvement of ISRO, NSIL, and IN-SPACe, marking a milestone in India’s space journey. Under the deal, HAL will receive training and support over 24 months to master SSLV production processes, technology integration, and flight preparedness. This initiative will help India strengthen its self-reliant space ecosystem while capturing opportunities in the rapidly expanding global small-satellite launch market. SSLVs, known for cost-effectiveness and quick turnaround, are crucial for future commercial missions.
