The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has approved the Mob Lynching Victim Compensation Scheme 2023. The scheme will provide a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to the family of a person who is killed in a mob lynching incident. Those who are injured in such incidents will be compensated Rs. 2.5 lakh. The compensation will be given to the next of kin of the victim or the injured person.

The Assam cabinet has recommended to the central government to withdraw the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from the state. The recommendation was made on Friday, September 9, 2023. AFSPA gives the armed forces sweeping powers to search, arrest and shoot to kill in areas declared as "disturbed". It has been in force in Assam since 1990.

The shawls are made from hand-spun cotton and are known for their intricate designs and vibrant colours. The GI tag will help to protect the shawls and ensure that they continue to be produced traditionally.
