Uttar Pradesh has implemented new guidelines for the appointment of its Director General of Police (DGP), prioritizing independence and stability. A selection committee, led by a retired High Court judge, will oversee the process. The committee comprises state officials, UPSC, and UP Public Service Commission nominees. The rules also mandate a two-year minimum tenure for the DGP, aligning with the 2006 Supreme Court directive. This reform aims to strengthen the police system's integrity, ensure citizen rights, and promote effective governance. Madhya Pradesh has taken a significant step towards women's empowerment by approving a 35% reservation for women in all state government recruitments. IREUK Titanium Limited, a joint venture between India's Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) and Kazakhstan's Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Plant JSC, aims to produce Titanium Slag in Odisha. This partnership leverages UKTMP JSC's technology and ensures a secure offtake for its titanium sponge plant, addressing raw material requirements. The Punjab Government's decision to hike Dearness Allowance by 4% will benefit over 6.5 lakh employees and pensioners, providing them with additional financial support ahead of Diwali.
