Karnataka emerged as the overall champion at the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 by securing the highest number of gold medals. The state achieved an impressive tally of 23 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze medals, totalling 38 medals. Karnataka’s dominance was particularly evident in swimming, where its athletes performed exceptionally well. The event saw participation from 30 states and Union Territories, showcasing a wide pool of tribal talent across multiple sports disciplines. The achievement highlights Karnataka’s strong sports infrastructure and commitment to nurturing talent at the grassroots level.

Navi Mumbai has been selected as the location for a new world-class cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 1,00,000, making it significantly larger than the existing Wankhede Stadium. The Mumbai Cricket Association is working in coordination with CIDCO to acquire suitable land for the project. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for larger sporting venues and enhance infrastructure for hosting major cricket events. Gurjant Singh, a prominent Indian athlete, retired from international hockey after a successful career spanning several years.
