In the 2025 Henley Passport Index, India’s ranking has fallen to 85th, down from 80th in 2024. The Henley Passport Index, which is based on data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA), ranks global passport mobility. While Singapore retains the top position, Japan has moved to second place after being ranked first from 2018-2023. The ranking serves as an important indicator of global mobility, with India’s passport losing five spots in this latest iteration of the index.

The Anji Khad Bridge is India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, spanning 725.5 meters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. It features a 193-meter-tall pylon and is designed to endure wind speeds of up to 213 km/h. Part of the USBRL Project, the bridge incorporates advanced construction techniques like the DOKA Jump form and hybrid foundations, with contributions from IITs and international experts such as ITALFERR and COWI. It is expected to boost connectivity, tourism, and economic development in the region.

PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Delhi-Srinagar train service on January 26, which coincides with Republic Day. This inauguration will also include the Z-Morh Tunnel and highlight the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River. The national gender ratio on electoral rolls improved from 940 in 2023 to 948 in 2024. This highlights progress in gender representation among voters. The e-Shram portal, aimed at helping unorganised workers access welfare schemes, has expanded to support all 22 scheduled languages in India. This upgrade, facilitated by the Bhashini project, makes the portal more accessible, allowing workers to register and obtain information in their native languages. Previously available only in English, Hindi, Kannada, and Marathi, this multilingual expansion significantly enhances the platform's reach and utility, fostering greater engagement with unorganised workers. The portal's ability to serve in 22 languages demonstrates the government's commitment to improving accessibility and inclusivity.
