Why would the boundary be a contour line? On maps, contour lines are typically shown at even intervals. What if the water surface is at elevation 137.2? This would not be a contour on a map. Water surface elevations are not shown as contours on a contour map.

Yes, A is correct. Because of the question mentions that it is a boundary. The level surface always parallels to the earth's surface. Still lake boundary is having not the same elevation. But having equal elevations at any point. That joined together form contour line.
