C is correct.

Because, question ask the level of fluid in a tube with respect to the level of Container and this is lower because of cohesion> adhesion.

Thanks.

They are asking for a rise or fall in the tube, not about curved surface of fluid inside the tube. Since its mercury, therefore, there will be depression. Hence given answer is correct.

Adhesion between molecules of fluid is greater than the adhesion between fluid and glass then the free level of fluid in glass tube dipped in glass vessel will be.

Cohesion is defined as the attraction between molecules of the same liquid whereas, adhesions mean the attraction between molecules of liquid.

Cohesion is greater than adhesion like in mercury and glass interface.
