The ratio, either on a weight or on a molecular basis, of carbon-to-hydrogen in a hydrocarbon material. Materials with a high carbon/hydrogen ratio (eg coal) are solid. The ratio is used as a preliminary indication of the hydrogen quantity needed to convert the hydrocarbon to a gas and/or liquid (AGA).

So, D is right.
