A lent Rs. 5000 to B for 2 years and Rs. 3000 to C for 4 years on simple interest at the same rate of interest and received Rs. 2200 in all from both of them as interest. The rate of interest per annum is:
5%
7%
7 1 %
8
10%
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Let the rate be R% p.a.

Then, 5000 x R x 2 + 3000 x R x 4 = 2200.
100 100

100R + 120R = 2200

R = 2200 = 10.
220

Rate = 10%.

In 3000, 1percent in 4yrs is 120.
In 5000, 1percnt in 2 yrs is 100.
Total interest 1 per cent is 220.
220 is 1 percent is then what is the 2200 percent is 10%.

@All.
Given
Options are;
1. 5%
2. 7%
3. 7 1/8 %
4. 10 %

Now select option 1 that is 5%.
for A = 5000 and time 2 years.

SI For 2 years at 5% per annum is (5000x 2x5)/100 = 500.

For B = 3000 and time 4 years.
SI For 4 years at % per annum is (3000 x 4 x 5)/100 = 600.

The esum of both SI = 1100,
which is half of total SI that is 2200,
So, SI by 5% is 1100 then SI by 10% is 220.0.
So option 4) 10% is correct.
